Thee absolute best service, great prices, and amazing food! They have great specials daily. My favorites are the Chorizo con huevos, and the steak and shrimp fajitas. The Margaritas are amazing too! I love casa Las palmas!

This place is well below average. The decor is meh, something to look at. The staff was okay. The food tastes like left overs reheated in the microwave. It's not good at all. If I had to take a guess, I want to say 95% of the food is leftovers. How can a restaurant have 70+ choices on their menu and still get food out in 5 minutes? If you think this is a great place to eat, please don't rate anymore restaurants. The best part about my experience was leaving this place. I personally won't be returning.

Amazing lunch, had the shrimp and beef bowl with mushrooms and peppers. Top shelf margaritas are wonderful paired with the fresh guacamole. Service was top notch and attentive. Can't wait to visit again.

Service was from Everardo. He was knowledgeable and the service was fast. The food was just ok. Kind of bland. The chips were a little stale. My pork burrito and my wife's seafood burrito were the size of a medium Taco bell burrito. We're used to "football size" burritos from Chicago. Most of the time I leave restaurants hungry or not satisfied. This was the same.

Mediocre Mexican restaurant with cheap ingredients. The reheated Tostito Chips and salsa were the only good part of the meal. This place doesn't hold a torch to anything in the Southwestern US

The food was great! Had the Lava Bowl and omg is was fantastic! The servers could stand to be a little more pleasant along with the person who seated us, the good food saved them.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants! Very comparable to El Zarape in Bowling Green, OH. Cheap draft beers, good service, and excellent food (brought out amazingly fast as most Mexican places do). I eat here with my family every time we're in the area.

I pride myself on Mexican cuisine and I had to try this place after reading the reviews. I was bummed.... The service was great and super fast but was not to satisfied with the food. I try to look for the house salsa and the beans first and foremost to judge and both tasted like they were poured from a can. The dinner portion was very small, similar to most lunch portions. Everything was very bland including the hot salsa I asked for extra. Which was a 2oz cup that cost me $3. Might like to come back if I was homeless and they were giving their stuff away. Lolz.

I have been eating at Casa Las Palma's for quite some time now. I love the atmosphere and especially the great service! The food is absolutely outstanding! I love this place and keep on coming back....All in all I will be a customer for life! Great job!

This local Mexican restaurant has become a staple for tourists and residents, alike. And for good reason. Affordable, dependable service. Plenty of drinks to choose from and a menu that goes on and on and on. You will be greeted at the door by a host or a server and immediately taken to a booth or a table. Within a minute or two chips will be placed at the table with salsa. And your drinks ordered. Upon returning with your drinks, your order will be taken and within five to ten minutes it will arrive hot. I have tried lunch and dinner specials and enjoyed both.

The best Mexican food I have ever had, and I even live in Arizona where there's "authentic Mexican food" practically on every corner. Miss it so much since I've moved away. The staff is always helpful, nice & so quick! The restaurant is usually pretty packed but I've never had to wait longer than 5-10 minutes. Their margaritas are AMAZING. The price for everything; food and drinks are great too! Just overall an amazing restaurant.

Ambience is great! Talked with the server in Spanish and he was really nice. Food came out in about 5 minutes after the drinks. Food looks like it could have been microwaved. One meal came out 10 minutes after everyone else. Margarita is also not strong and the mango flavoring is literally flavor syrup. Overall it's still a nice time with friends and good service

Yummmmmmy! And the service is outstanding!!!!! Everyone is super friendly, the food is always piping hot when it comes to the table and they are very generous with the portions! Gotta try this!!!

  • Ervin K.

This the best Mexican food I've had in long time. The prices are great. My only compliant was that my fajita meat was a little greasy. But considering how busy the place was I can understand it.

Eh. Dont go if you are a real Mexican food fan, as in either authentic or your average mexican restaurant. This fell way below average. The margi's had way too much sour mix, the chips tasted like plastic and the meals were way below average. Huge disappoint start to a vacation.

Stopped here while we were up visiting Kalahari. Excellent food. Excellent margaritas ($6.99 for 20 oz so I had 2!) And excellent service. We will make sure to stop here again next time we are in town.

Good food and fast service- we came in with 8 people. The atmosphere is noisy as it is busy here (Wednesday night) but overall good experience

Went there on a fishing trip in the area. We wanted to eat outside and found this gem on Yelp. Food was great and not too expensive. Service was great. 20 oz margarita only $6.99 was very good.

Very shitty service. The waiter barely spoke English and got all our Orders wrong even after trying to explain it multiple times. And the food wasn't anything special. So, I'm not coming back here again. Very shitty service. The waiter barely spoke English and got all our Orders wrong even after trying to explain it multiple times. This is authentic Mexican food, the absolute best in the area. The service is also the best in the area. Reasonable price and I have never had a bad meal here!

You can't go wrong here! My wife said, "this is what the food tasted like when I was in Mexico." If you are looking for authentic Mexican fare, look no further. Generous portions. Great atmosphere. Great prices too!

Have ate here serveral times, The food is good but nothing special nothing to set it a part from other mexican restarunts in the area. The wait staff is just so so and the place can be loud a times.

Oh sweet mother, I was in heaven. I love Mexican food but I find many Mexican restaurants to be too salty, or too greasy. What I ordered was freaking perfection but first things first. The salsa they bring when you sit down with chips was spicy and delicious. The margaritas we're good too. I got the Pollo ala crema. Grilled chicken, poblano peppers, mushrooms and onions in a spicy cream sauce with rice and pico guacamole salad (it comes with tortillas too but I asked for it without them because rice and chips is enough carbs for me). First of all, I far too often have more rice and filler than my main dish. The proportions were perfect. The sauce was out of this world. The Mr. got something with ranchero sauce which was pretty good too, but we both definitely thought mine was the stand out of the two. So good. Service was good, fast and attentive but not overdoing it. I had plenty of leftovers to have another killer lunch for the next day. I wish I was eating it right now. For what you get, they are quite inexpensive. Our dinners were just under $9 a piece. I'll be back. Oh yes, I will be back.

Really good food! Had the El Mocajete and it came in a real lava bowl! The restaurant is actually located on Route 53 between 163 and Route 2 in the Harbor Light Landing shopping center.

Finally, good Mexican food comes to this part of the state! Quite authentic fare, and really affordable. I tried La Major which was like a smaller sampler plate and included decent pork tamales and a really good chicken burrito. Amply spicy. The starter salsa is pretty good too, with a bit of a kick. As with all Mexican it is a little too salty, but no real complaints here. Decor is like most other Mexican restaurants you've been in. Apparently this place is almost always busy, but they handle crowds well. Food served in a flash.

I've ate here a couple of times and the food has consistently been good, and prices are fair. Service here has always been ok, but would probably avoid on the weekends because it gets really busy.

  • Alex G.

Tasty and Cheap! Love the chips and salsa served first. (never have been charged for them, so I don't know if that other review is out of date.) Wet Burrito and Enchiladas are huge and yummy! I always have a guacamole salad. Decor is typical colorful mexican. To-go doesn't always look as great as when I eat in, understandable.

Food, drinks, service and atmosphere are the heart of a restaurant and while most restaurants will have variations of strengths and weaknesses Casa las Palmas, unfortunately, is consistent. Long and short of it...this restaurant has no heart.

Not many choices around here so we went based on my inlaws recommendation. I ordered the Guadalajara Special: 2 taquitos, nachos, enchilada and tamale. My dish came out looking like the food got thrown onto the plate from across the kitchen. Everything was just piled on top of each other/messy...and probably because they were busy, they shovel food out. They sit you down, throw stale chips at you and want you to order fast..... I should have known better, the huge menu should have been a warning sign, they have the items numbered and it looked like they had 300 item combinations. Anyway, back to my entree it all tasted bland...and I love Mexican food, this wasn't very good (sorry yall)--- but for the area, I could see why people thinks its good. For me.Quality vs. Quantity....they should cut their menu in half and make those items great.

Delicious! I come to PC in the summer months and am proud of the extraordinary cuisine! The food is amazing. Place is usually busy - but we have never had a problem getting a table right away.

Last night was very disappointing. The food was only okay. We have eaten and celebrated there in the past. When in the area we have always chosen this Mexican restaurant over the others. In my immediate family we have four birthdays in the month of October. Like I said last night was disappointing. After our okay meal, my husband told the waiter that we were celebrating four birthdays. Then my oldest son got up to use the restroom. At that point all hell broke loose. The waiters came running over and slammed Mexican hats on our heads (wrong heads) and slapped whip cream and chocolate on our faces and clothing. Then they stood back and laughed at us. To say the least we were shocked. We will not do this again. It actually ruined our celebration.

This place is usually always packed, which is a good sign. As the other reviewers already wrote, the food is great, the portions and prices are excellent. I really like the salsa as well. I have never had a problem being seated, and i've gone in with very large groups. I will eat here every time i vacation in port clinton. Vegetarian and Vegan friendly. I recommend this to everyone.

I love this place. It's not fancy but is very comfortable and always busy. The food is great. The service is fast. Prices are good. One of my favorites. Mexican owned.

A diamond in the rough. The food is very good and very cheap. Service is the only thing a little lacking but once that gets straightened out this will be the place to go in Catawba.

We love this place! Food has always been great, the service is hit or miss. I'm actually sad that we will not be returning. We went here about once a week for as long as they have been open. We live here year round, and we love having this place to go to in the winter. However, on our last visit we saw a sign on the door informing customers that they had changed the menu and that they would now be charging for chips and salsa! WHAT???? Never in my life have I been to a mexican restraunt that charged for chips and salsa. I will miss the food, but we will not patronize a place that would charge for something that should come free with dinner. It's sad when an owner gets so greedy that they will capitalize on the tourists, the people that live here, that help him pay his bills in the winter, we will not pay for that, not when there are other mexican restraunts nearby that do not charge for chips and salsa, we will go there, and I suggest to any of the locals that they do the same. People need to stand up to these places and say, if you want our business, earn it!

Casa Las Palmas will not disappoint! A gem of a Mexican restaurant in a town that has very few good dining places. We are from out of town, but are always excited to visit family in Marblehead, and eat here once again. The service is fast and friendly, food is cooked to order. And you must have the fresh tortilla chips and salsa! They are delicious!! The prices are very reasonable, and the place does a great business. My only regret is always that we don't eat here more often. :)

K so i lovee Mexican food. Its my favorite and I eat at Mexican restaurants like twice a week. This place is by far the BEST ive ever had. Their salsa is made fresh daily, and their guac is amazing, like u can taste how fresh the avocados in it are. Every part of every dish is top quality, and its an unbeatable price. My Sister-in-Law lives up here and its her favorite place too. I must say, I will be coming here every time I can. Its the BEST!

We ventured here for the first time on a recomendation by a co-worker. We were very happy and will be regulars for sure! The service was fantastic, there were plenty of workers, the food was fabulous, and the drinks delicious. The standard chips and salsa were anything but. The salsa had a great texture and flavor and the chips were freshly made and delicous. We also ordered a VERY reasonably priced guacamole and also a cheese dip. Both were only $2.50 where as most local restaurants charge between $4 and $6 for the same. For entrees, I got the carnitas which had an amazing flavor. You could taste that it was slow roasted, but then must have been flash fried before serving. That touch gave an amazing texture to the meat I had not experienced before. My wife was very happy with her burritos and the beans were very good as well. I did not like the rice that much, but I am not a huge fan of Spanish rice anyway. All in all a fabulous meal, but get there early!

Casa Las Palmas, opened just over 2 years ago in Harbor Light Landing (On Rt. 53 heading from Route 2 toward Catawba Island, across from the Marblehead Peninsula Welcome Center), has had consistently good food since it's opening. My wife worked in Port Clinton for a few years and it was a favorite spot to hit after work. Their menu has variety, and the wait staff is always very attentive. I'd recommend it over some of the more chain-esque places on the peninsula to get a bite to eat: Beware though, it does get extremely busy around weekend dinner-rush, and does not have any waiting area other than 2 chairs by the cash register!

Best Mexican food I have ever had! On a recent short trip my girlfriend and I stopped there for dinner on our way, and it was so good we went back the next day for lunch on our way home. The place is very clean, service is extremely fast, and the atmosphere is very festive and Mexican. The Chile Re-llano is super, an actual whole pepper, not just some diced pepper with cheese like some places. The chicken and beef chimichanga are both light and fluffy and great. The salsa and chips, drinks, everything we had was super good. And it is fairly inexpensive as an added bonus! Any time I pass through Port Clinton I am sure I will go back there to eat.

Mexican cuisine will never be my favorite, and I especially tire of the same old burritos, nachos and tacos found in Mexican restaurants from coast to coast. However, this is a place I always look forward to visiting. Try the chicken mole - tender pieces of chicken breast bathed in a spicy sauce made from chocolate and peanuts. It's a wonderful experience. If you ask nicely, they will bring a small bowl of the mole sauce to dip your chips in.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
